I'd like to see the above poster re-post his thoughts on an active Qooxdoo forum rather than someone's 2 year old blog post that, while once was some good information on starting this type of project, is no longer relevant. We welcome your input on our mailing list. Until then, please stop making sweeping generalizations that our framework is somehow "not ready for prime time" because it doesn't fit your specific purpose out of the box. Qooxdoo is a server-agnostic platform and is going to stay that way. The number of server-side languages and web development frameworks that exist is far too vast for us to support even a minority of them out of the box.

The documentation can be difficult to read due to our internationalized development community, but you are short-sighted in claiming that our API documentation is unclear because it does not clearly document your specific purpose. I suggest you compare what we offer to the Ruby on Rails API documentation and you will find that our documentation is at par with what they offer, with a much smaller development community. In addition, claiming the documentation is "outdated" on a two year old blog post exposes you as a hypocrite. Qooxdoo isn't the only product that has iterated in this period of time. Ruby on Rails has gone through two major releases and they've made some especially heavy modifications with the 2.0 release.

Qooxdoo is not a commercial, shrink-wrapped product with a multi-million dollar budget behind it designed for the mass market consumption by the lowest common denominator. It is made by talented developers and designed for use by talented developers. If you do not have anything to contribute to our community other than your opinion grounded in ignorance, we will gladly show you the way out. We have nothing to gain from those who do nothing set us back by spreading incorrect information about what we've worked so hard to produce and so graciously given away for all to consume for free. Perhaps you should show yourself the door to the computer programming world in general if this is all you have to offer?

Yes, trying to use qooxdoo with ruby on rails is a confusing mess. This site is way outdated. The qooxdoo documentation, while there is a large amount of it, is not that helpful. Too bad, because the potential seems to be there. Apparently its just not ready for prime time yet :)

I can not get this to work. Has anyone tried this with the current version (0.7.1) of qooxdoo? I've tried all of the suggestions with no luck. Does anyone have cleaned up version of this demo documentation.

ok - found that I needed to put partial in a file _list.rxml. new to this.
also on 0.6.6 you need to replace qx.client.Builder().build
with 'qx.util.GuiBuilder.build' .
